Entry from: Rodadero, Colombia Entry Title: "Beach nights in Colombia" Entry: "I make no apology for inflicting this latest experience on my nearest and dearest including tolerant friends who are happy to share my enthusiasm for these events. This one is concerns a certain madness which takes over the beach at night. During the day it is typical, except that most people do avoid the burning sun. As the sun sets making a purple bruise at the horizon the beach becomes a hub of families under huge flood lights, kids make sand castles and swim, whilst adults sit and talk. After the horizon has become an indistinct black line and most kids are in their beds the beach becomes a living entity throbbing with the massed sounds of rhythmical drums, just beyond the palms and on the sand, where many musicians provide an irrestible beat (usually different and you have to change you step as you move along). Last night Peter and I were honoured and invited to join on large group. A young woman noticed us dancing on the edge, outside the circle and called us to join, a little shyly at first (not for long though) I moved across, Peter declined and I explained his heart problem. She sat him down and found a partner for me. Girating, body vibrating, full of the sound of drums and a saxaphone (alto perhaps) I danced ...
